Stephen Morris became Principal of St Edward’s College in September 2016. He was educated at Hereford Cathedral School, from which he progressed to Hull University to read Theology. At the end of his degree he decided to enter teaching and undertook a PGCE course in Religious Education and History, at the same university.
In 2008 he became Headmaster of Llandaff Cathedral School in Cardiff, choir school to the Anglican cathedral. This was a school which had exactly the vision of education Stephen feels strongly committed to: high academic standards, but equal importance attached to sport, music, the arts, outdoor pursuits, and all other aspects of pupils’ personal, social and moral development.
He oversaw a renewal of the school’s Christian ethos, a multi-million pound building programme, and the successful establishment of a sixth form which is now one of the highest achieving in Wales.
O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
