Edmund Rice England - Presence . Compassion . Liberation

Members of the Edmund Rice Network gathered for the Annual Garden Party on Saturday 1st July.  It was held in Woodeaves the location of the Edmund Rice Network Office.

Seventy members gathered in the lovely gardens of Woodeaves, Hale Barns and before lunch we began with a prayer service led by Tom Murray, Youth Development Officer.

The weather was sunny and warm all afternoon. This occasion is always lovely where members meet old and new friends.  The atmosphere was one of happy and joyful celebration of our friendship founded on the shared love of our founder Edmund Rice.

Members also said goodbye to Shelagh Lochery who is retiring at the end of August.  One of Shelagh’s roles was to organise gatherings of the Edmund Rice Network throughout the year.  The garden party being the final occasion of the year.

A raffle was held which raised £145 and will go towards the work of SERV (Salford Edmund Rice Volunteers) supporting asylum seekers and refugees in Salford.

Please come next year and join in the fun.

Prayer of Thanks for Blessed Edmund Rice

O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
