On 27th-28th November staff from St. Ambrose, St. Mary’s Prep and St. Joseph’s accompanied Ann and Tom to Belfast for a full 2 day programme of ‘Domestic Immersion’. Included in the outreach projects we were privileged to find out about were: ‘Tops’, an education programme for pupils unable to attend mainstream school due to mental health issues or hospitalisation, Rosemont House, an amazing ‘family’ style hostel for homeless men recovering from addiction and ‘Strengthening Families’, a 14 week family support programme that aids communication between teens and parents. One of our staff members declared the experience to be… “a brilliant couple of days! I just think the whole thing was so eye opening and although tiring it was so good to see just how the network can get involved – loved it.” Our thanks go to the Westcourt Centre in Belfast who put on such a great programme. Our links with ministries across the province continue to grow. We will be bringing the group together in the new year to revisit their immersion and to follow up on its impact on staff and their schools.
Would you like to participate in a similar domestic immersion experience? We will run another visit to Belfast in June. Contact the office to express your interest.
O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
