Religious Orders in Education Charism Symposium

On Monday 9th November the first session of 3 scheduled events around ‘Exploring Charism’ took place as. a virtual conference. With over 90 participants from leadership teams all across religious order schools the conference was deemed to be a great success. We enjoyed input from Fr David O’Malley SDB who had recorded a video about understanding Charism and the impact of Charism in our schools and later we heard from a series of Headteachers who bore witness to their Charisms. With 2 opportunities for breakout discussions, excellently facilitated by members of the ROE Charism group, participants were able to share experiences, explore how Charism impacts them and to ask questions we can address in futures sessions.

Feedback on the symposium was excellent; some comments are included below:

“I loved being able to interact with other leaders and focus on the main purpose of all we do”.

” I feel challenged to support others finding things difficult at this moment in time. The meeting today has given me  energy and enthusiasm  and I feel inspired to bring the positivity from the group into my classroom again.”

“It gave me  the understanding that our Charism can sometimes be seen as wild and dangerous!”

The next session will take place, again online, on Tues 16th March 2021 and our theme is ‘Charism and Spirituality’.

O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
