Edmund Rice England - Presence . Compassion . Liberation

Roisin Maguire reflects & moves on…

Extracts from a letter to the parish of St. Theresa’s, Stoke-on-Trent

“As I prepare to relinquish my Headship at
St Joseph’s College I reflect on the great privilege and blessing I have had for the past 12 years and also the previous 6 years as Deputy.”

“During this time a key aim has been, every day, to make explicit what we are about; a community where every child is known and valued and loved, where there is reverence for each person and for life itself, and where everyone is encouraged to be committed to social justice.”

“I have wanted, always, to empower our young people to have a voice, to “be the change they want to see in the world”, to be the leaders, to make a difference.”

“I shall miss the energy, joy and vitality of our students who have inspired me every day and the commitment, dedication and loyalty of the staff, but I know that the school is in good hands and that it will continue to go from strength to strength. And as St Joseph’s College moves on, without me, it will remain always in my heart and prayers.”
