We have been delighted by the response of the staff in our Colleges to the urgency in our global community to acknowledge, examine and implement the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals in our schools. Our joint INSET day at St Anselm’s College on 7th February created a buzz around ideas and possible joint projects with outside organisations such as the British Council. All feedback from the day is being forwarded to schools this week.
As part of the on-going conversation we are encouraging communities to join UN75 – a way to have all voices heard on a global platform. This year sees the 75th anniversary of the United Nations and part of the marking of this occasion is a ‘global conversation’ where feedback from groups and individuals from all corners of the globe with their ideas on how to create a better world for all will be submitted to world leaders. Antonio Gutierrez, the UN chief calls for participation in the process.
“We need to come together, not only to talk, but to listen”, he said. “It is absolutely essential that you all join the conversation. We need your opinion, your strategies and your ideas for us to be able to deliver better for the people of the world that we must serve.”

O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
