As part of the EREBB Congress inspired ‘looking out of your window’ volunteering programme, St Joseph’s Prep staff visited SERV this Monday afternoon to help them in a very kind, thoughtful and special way.
After hearing some time ago that the SERV classrooms needed some ‘jazzing up’ staff of St Joseph’s Prep, in their usual enthusiastic way, set about designing and creating special interactive ESOL displays to aid refugees in their English lessons. These displays not only look amazing and make the classroom much more personal and colourful but provide excellent visual support for those learning English.
Staff went up to Salford on Monday after school and spent their evening getting to know the refugees who will use the materials and putting them up. This was an inspirational and fantastic way to ‘look outside of the window’, like Edmund, the St Joseph’s staff used their own skills and materials to make a difference to those who need it. Truly you are #edmundspeople and a great inspiration in our Network.
O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
