Parr Street Brothers Community

On the 15 th January, we invited the Brothers to a meal. As it was also Edward’s birthday, a
tasteful exhibition of photos and paintings was displayed. Michael prepared the tasty
cuisine. Chris gave a lift to Matt who has various health challenges recently.
We had a visit from Andrew Roberts, a former volunteer in the West Africa mission who was
seriously injured in a car accident in Australia on holiday.

Edward attended the Regulars’ meeting in Leyland Benedictine parish and we viewed the
beautiful modern church of St. Mary’s with its striking staions of the cross by the late Arthur
Dooley. (photo attached). February’s meeting will be in the Redemptorist parish of Bishop
Eaton.

Edward gave his oral history to David Ryan at St. Timothy’s where Eamonn O’Brien hopes to
relocate after his landord’s sale of his flat after many years of psychotherapy ministry.
Edward has completed a brochure of the Brothers’ graves in England and Scotland.

Edward took part in a peace vigil on the steps of the Metropolitan Cathedral among other
church representatives and an imam on the 4th February. A Ukranian Catholic priest, and
chaplain of St. Edward’s College, came with his sons to pray for peace in Ukraine. Ash
Wednesday’s Pax Christi walk of witness was well attended also now that war is taking place
in Ukraine. Although the emphasis was no abolition of nuclear weapons. Re- Ukraine,why
has NATO encircled Russia since the reunification of Germany despite promising not to
expand eastwards?

Br. Andrew Rock has moved from Ince Blundell as it is closing down soon. He has found a
place in Bowden Vale which is very close to Woodeaves.
Michael and Edward hoped to attend the Provincial Chapter but were disappointed when it
became a delegate Chapter only. Maybe people renagued when they found there was no
accomodation since Emmaus has been offered to Ukrainian refugees. Could this have
waited till the Chapter was over? We already had a two-year wait for the Congregational
Chapter.
