Parish WALK AGAINST HUNGER

An initiative organised by CAFOD for Lent 2022. We are urged to remember two contrasting
facts

1. 200 million children in the world currently suffer from malnutrition.
2. Each year in the UK, 6.7 million tonnes of food is wasted at a cost of £10.2 billion.

On Saturday, March 19th, 2022 (Feast of St Joseph), there was an opportunity to walk
together as a parish to socialise for the first time in over two years and to reflect on the gift
of life that we share with each other and with the whole of Creation.  It started at Croxteth

Hall and it followed the 5km walking route and ended at the Cafe. About 25 people turned
up to enjoy nature and some good company.

Further rewilding of field By St Timothy’s Church

On Tuesday, 1st March 2022, some volunteers planted, with help from the Groundwork
Team, some small saplings to form a hedgerow in the grounds at St Timothy’s. It was a
beautiful day and everyone worked hard in two sessions.
The whips had been provided free of charge by Groundwork. There are well over 200 whips
planted now towards the rear end of the field near the back of the church in St Timothy's.
This plantation will form a hedge in due time and will be a home for the birds and insects.
Some bright coloured and more mature trees will be planted at a later date after
consultation with the landscape architect who will visit the site and draw up a plan in the
near future. The daffodils and tulips are popping up in the front of the field after coming
through and surviving a very wet spell of weather. Some wildflowers will also be scattered
later in spring.

Prayer

Prayer of Thanks for Blessed Edmund Rice

O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
