Mrs Sara Heron, Interim Headteacher at St Ambrose Preparatory School, Hale barns
As the new Interim Head at St Ambrose Prep, I am delighted to say that this is a joyous
school to lead. Having spent 30 years in the secondary sector as a Deputy Head the
transition to Primary was quite a change but in the most positive way. The pupils are
delightful, naturally respectful and diligently hard working. St Ambrose pupils embody the
excellence and integrity we would expect from being part of the Edmund Rice family. Our
pupils are great ambassadors of the Edmund Rice 8 essentials as they personify kindness,
empathy and honesty, coupled with exemplary attitudes to learning.
Our pupils are currently practising their nativity performance which always culminates in a
performance worthy of the West End! There’s tinkling of piano keys, the tuning of an
eclectic mix of instruments and choir rehearsals that never fails impress. The hall is awash
with donkeys and camels and we may even have live sheep to add authenticity!
I cannot believe that the Autumn term is almost over but what I can say is that I have
enjoyed every minute of it and look forward to the New Year.
O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
