During this time of negative press and the inhumane parliamentary bill regarding the rights of vulnerable migrants to seek asylum in the United Kingdom, our schools have been counteracting this wave of hostility with their usual ‘compassion for this most in need.’ As part off the global Students Rebuild Art for Refugees project many school have need designing and writing postcards of welcome, love and support for those fleeing their homes due to war, natural disaster, poverty. climate change etc. these cars are uploaded and money is then raised ($5) per card. at the same time the actual cards are bing sent to an organisation called SHARe Knowsley which is caring for those seeking asylum and refugees in the Knowsley area. Thanks to St Joseph’s College. Runnymede St Edward’s and St Mary’s Prep who have send cards this week.
O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
