And this term Runnymede, St Marys Prep, St Ambrose Prep and St Joseph’s College have created 100s of works of welcome and support.
See the letter from SHARe Knowsley which supports refugees and asylum seekers in Knowsley. The importance of showing kindness and compassion at this time of hostility created by the government’s ‘stop the boats’ migration policy and negative media attention is more important than ever.
Particular thanks go to the amazing work of students at St Joseph’s College with this project which has been overseen by Mrs Hall. They have submitted hundreds of cards and have displayed them in the school too as part of an awareness campaign about the plight of refugees in our own country.
O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
