During the Staff Immersion to South Africa last summer, we visited Little Cherubim’s Ark pre-school in the township of Mamelodi, near Pretoria. Inspired by the great work of its founder, Mama Mabel, who has built this important service for the children and mothers in her area from scratch, we agreed on the spot to help!
For just £5,000 we could have two whole classrooms built, so that the fantastic service being provided can be extended to more families. In vulnerable communities, early years provision literally transforms lives; children are given the start they need for a healthy, successful future and their parents (often young single mothers) are given the opportunity to work. As well as providing the food, education and care for babies and pre-schoolers from the area, the early years nurseries provide local employment.
