St Aidan’s Catholic Academy

St Aidan’s Catholic Academy’s motto is ‘Celebrate life to the full’ and we are very passionate about creating opportunities for all our sisters and brothers to discover their own talents and use them in all aspects of life. In our community, we are reminded daily, that we are lovingly created by God. We look for the face of Christ in us and others, which inspires us to walk with excellence all day long. We follow the example of Blessed Edmund Rice to look around us and be sensitive to the needs of our sisters and brothers. That’s why we support many charities: like Macmillan, Norah’s North Pole, Love Amelia, CAFOD, Edmund Rice International, and more. We make Christmas Hampers for those in need, our food bank is open to the community, and the school allotment encourages our pupils to live sustainably and care for our planet Earth.

We pray daily, celebrate weekly form class Mass, we begin liturgical seasons with the Celebration of the Word, to be close to God who guides us every day. Our school trips, like mountain visits, are designed to strengthen us as a community and inspire us to action.

During their January visit to ERI in Geneva Ben Samudre, Year 12 was inspired to take action for the poor, and having reflected on the trip he wrote the following:

‘One of the things that has really stuck with me was mentioned by Brother Brian Bond and Roisin (Our group leader and CEO of Edmund Rice). They both mentioned that any work we do as human rights ambassadors should be done truthfully and with the right morals and ethics. They explained that it is easy to gain the trust of people through your words, but the actions and fruits of your work should be truthful and promote justice and human rights.’

St Aidan’s pupils are always passionate about the needs of others, everyone deserves to live their lives to the full.
