Sixth Form Street Retreat

In March, thirteen Sixth Form students participated in our annual Street Retreat.  We started the day at the Liverpool University Catholic Chaplaincy, where we were led in reflection and faith sharing by Jiss and Kelly, two university students.  Following a time of prayer, we spent lunch with brother Nicholas, a missionary from Burundi, who shared his experiences with us.  From there, we made the short walk to the Missionaries of Charity in Seel Street, where we put our faith into action and peeled a sack of potatoes between us!  The day ended with a time of adoration with the sisters and a final moment of sharing with each other.  Below are some thoughts on the day from Emily:

“I really enjoyed the retreat day, as it was a day where I was able to spend time with my friends, not in school, reflecting on my faith. I really liked the time we spent with the university students, as we got to see what university is like for them, and we also were able to see how they balance their faith and studies, and how God has guided them in their lives.

  I also liked the fact we were able to talk and get to know everyone who went, we were able to discuss things we wouldn’t normally talk about in school, I think that it was important to do as we now not only feel closer to God but also each other. My favourite part of the day was helping out in the soup kitchen peeling potatoes, thinking how this small task that I am doing is going to impact upon many people. Overall, I would really recommend people to go on this retreat next year.”
