Following our visit to Sierra Leone this autumn and thanks to a collaboration with Edmund Rice Development we are encouraging the Edmund Rice schools to get involved in the Opening Doors on Girls’ Empowerment 2024 Advent campaign. Learning opportunities for our schools are contained in the campaign materials such as: gender equality, life in the developing world, the right to education, SDG 10 Global Inequalities. At the same tome we hope that schools will advocate for the fantastic education and empowerment programs being run by the Christian brothers Mission in West African supported by Edmund Rice Development and raise funds to support their vulnerable sisters in Sierra Leone.
O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
