Seven of our Youth Ambassadors took an active role in our local parish communities over the weekend of Christ the King by speaking at the end of the Mass, to introduce their inspiring project, the “Doorstops of Hope” in celebration of the Year of Jubilee. This creative endeavour will bring together parishioners and young leaders to decorate doorstops with meaningful designs and messages symbolising hope, unity, and renewal, reflecting the Jubilee’s core themes. The beautifully crafted doorstops will then be sold to raise funds for CAFOD, directly supporting its vital mission to combat global poverty and promote social justice. This project not only showcases the creativity and dedication of our young leaders but also fosters a strong sense of community and shared purpose, which will leave a lasting impact.
Our ambassadors have them brought this work into our academy. Youth ambassadors have led collective worship experiences in the run up to Advent, sharing knowledge of the Year of Jubilee and inviting their peers to decorate doorstops in their free time to support the fundraising campaign.
O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
