Founded in 1891 by the Christian Brothers, St. Patrick’s School, Asansol stands as a symbol of academic excellence, discipline, and holistic growth. The Congregation of Christian Brothers, established by Edmund Ignatius Rice in Ireland, is renowned for its global missionary and educational contributions — and St. Patrick’s proudly carries forward this rich legacy.
During the Second World War, the school was temporarily managed by the Jesuit Mission of Patna and relocated to Kurji, but its enduring spirit of faith, service, and excellence has never wavered.
Today, St. Patrick’s is home to nearly 1,800 students, with three sections each from KG to Class 10 and two sections for Classes 11 and 12. Affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), it prepares students for the ICSE and ISC (Science) examinations. Over the years, Patricians have consistently achieved state and national distinctions, reflecting the school’s unwavering commitment to quality education.
Beyond academics, students excel in sports, arts, cultural activities, and public speaking, embodying the school’s motto of faith, perseverance, and excellence.
Originally a fully residential institution, St. Patrick’s began admitting day scholars in later years and closed its hostel in 1984. In 2009, it reached another milestone by opening its doors to girls in Classes 11 and 12, embracing inclusivity in its educational vision.
Set amid lush greenery along the Grand Trunk Road, the campus includes modern classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, playing fields, a swimming pool, an auditorium, a scenic pond, and vast wooded areas, making it one of Asansol’s most beautiful and historic landmarks.
