Praying a Christmas blessing for all our friends across the English network of Edmund Rice people.
We bring another year of dedicated service to a close, celebrating the dedication of so many people striving to make the world a better place, reaching out in solidarity to people who have few opportunities in life, influencing the lives of the young people in our care by the example of our lives.
Christmas and New Year give us an opportunity to recharge our batteries, relax and celebrate with our loved ones, and renew our commitment at a time in history characterised by massive changes. Pope Francis continues to encourage us to promote care for life on the planet, amidst excessive consumerism and climate upheaval, to reach out in mercy and compassion to people in need, and to promote participation and collaboration through a “synodal” approach.
May our renewed encounter with the Christ-child give us new eyes and new hearts.

O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
