Edmund Rice Education Beyond Borders

EREBB has started an exciting new initiative for new and young teachers in the profession.

Recently over 60 new and young teachers from Edmund Rice schools in Australia, India, Africa, Europe, North America and South America, met online for the inaugural EREA/EREBB New Teachers’ Global Network.

This Network aims to enable new and young teachers in our schools to meet others from across our global community of schools. It involves them meeting (online) four times over three terms, sharing their experiences of being a new teacher in the Edmund Rice tradition, exploring ideas and strategies, and hearing from invited Principals/Leaders about their own experiences of being a new teacher.

At the end of the project, teachers will partner with others from across the globe and develop a learning project that they can do together with their respective students…thus further engaging with the global network.

According to UNESCO’s Global Report on Teachers, retention of new teachers is a worldwide issue, and being part of our global network is one approach to supporting their ongoing commitment to and excitement for teaching in the Edmund Rice Tradition, thus retaining them in the profession.

The EREBB Global Congress will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in April 2026. This will be a wonderful gathering of over 150 senior Edmund Rice education leaders from around the world. It will be hosted by Cardinal Newman College.

As the Congress is being held in the birth and formation place of Pope Francis, the Congress will centre on one of the core themes of his pontificate – Encounter. The theme is:

‘Pedagogía del Encuentro’ (Pedagogy of Encounter)

Walking in the Spirit of Francis…through Edmund Rice Education Today.
