Over the past couple of weeks we have written an official statement for COY16 – the Conference of Youth, which precedes and feeds into COP26. Conference of Youth prepares a global youth statement that goes directly to policy makers at COP26. St Anselm’s College, St Ambrose College and St Mary’s College student representatives were joined by All Hallows and Iona Prep from the US, Stella Maris in Uruguay, the Hermano Manolo Centre in Bolivia, and St Augustines and St John’s in India. As a group we have prepared a statement that gives an overview of why a group such as the Edmund Rice Network deserves a voice at the climate negotiations, the climate and environmental issues in each country and region, our climate change commitments as well as, of course, clear demands from our world leaders and negotiators. The statement will be accompanied by 100s of supporting signatures which have flooded in to us from our fellow Edmund Rice schools all over the globe.

O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
