Edmund Rice England - Presence . Compassion . Liberation

European Provincial’s Message

As the Advent season is upon us, I want to wish parents, students and teachers every blessing for this time of hope and promise.  In a world that is riven by wars, famine and climate crisis, this time offers us a moment to reflect on the promise of new birth, new possibilities, and new horizons.  While Advent is often described as a time of expectancy and waiting, we can also view it as a moment to gather our capacity to make a difference in the situation we find ourselves.  How easy it is to lament the wars on a global scale, while we can find ourselves at war with ourselves or with others.  Peace is something we all desire and, to some extent, peace is within our grasp if we begin to act in our own situation.  Whatever action we take, however small, we can make a difference!

So, may I wish everyone a rich season of Advent and a blessed Christmas!
