Edmund Rice Education in Laetare CMAT: A Charism Alive and Growing

Within the Laetare Catholic Multi Academy Trust, our Edmund Rice schools stand confidently in the knowledge that they lose nothing of their founding charism. The move into a wider Catholic family has not diluted their identity; it has simply given that identity room to deepen, to be shared, and to continue shaping the experience of young people in practical and life-giving ways. The charism of Edmund Rice has always been a living tradition that responds to the needs of the time, and it remains so today.

What distinguishes our schools is the steady way in which the Edmund Rice essentials shape daily life. A culture of welcome and inclusivity is reflected in how pupils are supported and encouraged. Respect and care for the whole person guide relationships across the community. A commitment to justice is evident in pastoral work, in the way pupils are encouraged to look outward, and in the priorities that leaders set for the school. Strong partnership with families, a grounded Gospel spirituality, and a clear sense of service continue to influence how pupils understand themselves and their place in the world. High expectations for learning ensure that every child is given the opportunity to grow and to contribute with confidence.

Within Laetare CMAT, these values are not held in isolation. They are strengthened through collaboration and a shared desire to place each child at the centre of our work. Our Edmund Rice schools remain faithful to their roots while looking forward with hope, living the charism not as a memory but as a daily invitation to act with compassion and integrity.

Prayer of Thanks for Blessed Edmund Rice

O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
