On 23rd and 28th September new staff and governors from Edmund Rice schools attended our induction programme. We ran a split session: 2 hours online when particpants found out about the Edmund Rice Network, what it means to be in an Edmund Rice school in terms of both the responsibilities and the opportunities that can bring and heard from many Network members via video about their roles and as a welcome to the Edmund Rice family. Our second session, face to face at Woodeaves concentrated on the life of Edmund and a chance for staff to meet one another, ask questions and hear from Brother Ger about his life as a Christian Brother. The programme will be repeated in the summer term as schools are not able to release all new staff on one day. Staff felt ‘motivated’ by the sessions and ‘fired up’ to become more involved in the global network.
O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
