Parr Street

Michael and Edward are decluttering Parr Street prior to its being sold on the market. Most items are being given away to worthy charities such as Oxfam, Heart Foundation, Migrants, etc. Cemeteries – Bath and Bristol are being cleaned. Yew tree, Liverpool is having Br. Chris Brown’s name inscribed as half his ashes are buried there, the other half are interred with his parents in Stoneyhurst Cemetery, Hurst Green.

A brochure of all places where Brothers resided during our ministry in England and Scotland from 1825 to the present is being compiled. There were 3 phases – 19th century education of poor immigrants, 20th century forming a quality education for future Catholic leaders, and the last 50 years in ‘going to the margins’ at home and abroad.

Pastoral visits to accompany fragile Brothers in Liverpool and Aughton are regular. Also, friends and colleagues welcome the connection of the Brothers in a time of sickness and old age.

The local parish of St. Vincent De Paul welcomes the involvement of Michael on the weekly hospitality and food and clothing charity on Tuesdays and Edward’s membership of the Justice & Peace group.

Edward attends the monthly meetings of the Regulars of Liverpool Archdiocese. (Religious Congregations and Societies).

Prayers were offered for Chris’s niece for a successful heart operation and on-going prayer is being offered for Eamonn’s niece to cure her cancer.

Edward is able to attend Liverpool Pax Christi monthly meetings since they moved to a Thursday. The usual Ash Wednesday walk of witness through the city centre was done in conjunction with Christian C N D to witness opposition to nuclear weapons and war in general.

A prayer protest was held at the Metropolitan Cathedral to object to diocesan investment in fossil fuels that are damaging our beautiful planet.

Funerals are becoming alarmingly common recently. Edward was able to attend one in Bradford, one in Salford and one in Crosby – all good Catholics who contributed generously to the Church and its ministries. We pray that Rev. Nick Baggio, Edward Down and Dr Maura Morley (nee Murphy) may rest in peace and rise in glory.
