Autumn Term has been a very busy yet immensely rewarding time for Runnymede St
Edward’s Catholic Primary School. Our Staff, Young Edwardians and Runnymede family
have worked tirelessly to live out Edmund’s legacy in every way that we can.
Edmund Rice England Conference

In October, Mrs Patricia Minogue attended the ERBB ‘Educating with Hope in Our Hearts
and Hands’ Conference at Hayes Conference Centre. Many exciting workshops were held
and Mrs Minogue led a workshop explaining how we promote the ‘8 Essentials of Edmund
Rice Education’ with our pupils using our bespoke ‘Magna Carta’ Award to other Edmund
Rice Schools. Mrs Minogue thoroughly enjoyed the conference and has returned to school
bursting with ideas as to how to educate our pupils to actively promote looking after our
wonderful world and how to halt climate change. “It was an amazing opportunity to learn
about how other schools are promoting the values of Edmund Rice to their pupils and
beyond and I look forward to partaking in similar events in the future.”

COP 27 Online Workshop

A group of our Year 6 pupils were delighted to take part in an online workshop with a
number of wonderful schools from across the globe as we were invited to think about being
positive instruments of change for a more sustainable and fair world.
We were inspired by the knowledge, engagement and feedback shared in this afternoon
event and feel more confident to act in our efforts to create a more sustainable and mindful
world with regards to climate change.
Following the advice shared, we have sent postcards to our local MP and also to our Prime
Minister, Rishi Sunak, in our attempt to lobby for change.

Radio Maria Broadcast- Life Lessons of Edmund Rice

In November, we were kindly invited to prepare and deliver a radio broadcast to be shared
with all Edmund Rice schools in the UK and globally. As you can imagine, we jumped at the
opportunity and our Year 6 Edmund Rice Advocates spoke with confidence and upmost
clarity as they discussed their social justice work and how we, as a school, work relentlessly
and with generosity of spirit to show ‘concern for others,’ just as Edmund did, in our support
of local food banks. The audience were also invited to listen to our talented choristers sing
‘Hail Redeemer’ and ‘Love is His Word’ and our Key Stage 2 children sing a delightful version
of ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’.
