Social Justice and Human Rights Workshops with Justice Desk Africa and Pratyek

As part of the extended visit to the English network, by both Justice Desk Africa and Pratyek, India, we were able to offer all of the Edmund Rice Schools Social Justice and Advocacy Workshops with our partner network organisations. Each primary and secondary school welcomed Pratyek and JDA in to work with groups of students.

Learning about justice and rights, how to advocate and engage with effective change-making campaigns has been an enormous inspiration for all of our schools. These visits have triggered a huge boost in advocacy work, in how schools are approaching their engagement with injustice, and in how they are running their ERI / Justice groups and really effecting change in terms of the adoption of a rights-based approach to the injustice that their schools are trying to help to alleviate. We are so grateful for the huge amount of work that Jess, Mieshane, Talisha, Steve and Souran did with our schools.

What did it mean for young human rights defenders / everyday activists Mieshane and Talisha, both graduates of the Justice Desk Africa’s Mbokodo Project (empowerment program for girl survivors of rape and gender-based violence), to come and run human rights education sessions in the UK?
