The team visited St Aidan’s Catholic Academy on this January.
We had really missed being in the school which COVID had prevented.
Whilst there, St Aidan’s organised detailed programme, designed around the Eight Essentials, so that we were able to make the most of our time there. We saw the school, which has undergone some refurbishment and met with students. We enjoyed mass with sixth form and met with the CEO of the Bishop Chadwick Trust, Brendan Tapping. We saw the school allotment, met with the Chaplain and potential new Edmund Rice camp leaders as well as time with the SLT. As you can see from the attached programme – it was. We were extremely impressed by everything we saw at the school; how the Edmund Rice charism is embedded into all that happens, the enthusiasm and clear vocation of the staff, the transformational activities such as their residing canon, family dining, their rewards and sanctions strategy. Glenn and his team are doing an outstanding job.
O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
