The boys at the Prep enjoyed a visit and talk about Immersion to Sierra Leone as part of their awards. They have been learning about human rights and social justice. The boys made a wonderful video about the women in Edmund Rice’s life and women who inspire them on International Women’s’ Day, this video was shared across the global Edmund Rice Network.
Hello – I am delighted to tell you about what my classmates and I have been learning for our Edmund Rice Awards. We have had many opportunities to hear about human rights, homelessness, disadvantaged groups and more. My favourite part was when Brother Dominic visited and we learnt all about his extraordinary life. We were lucky enough to have a Questions and Answer session with him too and learnt that he has met a few Popes! We also had a visit from some sixth formers from St Ambrose College who told us all about their Immersion experience to Sierra Leone. It was so inspiring. I am really enjoying all the amazing opportunities that the Awards are giving me. ( Jamie )
For a few weeks now, our class have been doing a variety of things working towards Our Edmund Rice Awards. These have included a zoom call with the Whitechapel Centre ( when we learnt about homelessness); writing our own class prayer and prayer tree; learning all about the women who played an important part in the life of Edmund Rice – I really loved creating a video all about this for International Women’s Day. What we have done has really inspired me and shown me how I can be a better person.( Hannan)
O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
