St Anselm’s College

It has been a very busy first term of 2023 at St Anselm’s College. 

As well as the day-to-day academic activities and extra-curricular pursuits, staff and students in the College community have generously been donating items for the Harvest Collection. We were able to take 344kgs of donations to the Wirral Foodbank to support local families in need. 

In addition, we have filled over 200 shoe boxes ready to be donated to Operation Christmas Child in support of Samaritan’s Purse. Our Junior SVP students and members of the RE Faculty have been busy preparing for their collection and distribution to children in and from countries including. Belarus, Ukraine, Albania, Bosnia, Kosovo, Romania Central Asia and East Africa. We wanted to say a particular thanks to Mrs Critchely and her family, who make a generous annual contribution to our collection, and express our gratitude to all members of the wider community who have supported our continued charitable endeavours. 

In September, we were delighted to be awarded the Bronze Award from the Anti-bullying Alliance in recognition of the work we continue to undertake in our college community to ensure that all people are valued, differences is celebrated, and any form of bullying behaviour is dealt with effectively. We took part in events to mark the annual Anti-Bullying Week and Odd Socks Day, where staff and students wore odd socks as a small gesture to symbolise that everyone is unique. Our Anti-bullying Ambassadors presented assemblies and as a community, we united in celebrating everyone’s uniqueness and expressing our continued commitment against all forms of bullying behaviour. 

We are proud of our College community’s continued commitment to these initiatives as they align with the core principles of compassion, solidarity, and justice emphasized in the teachings of Jesus Christ. The Gospel calls upon all believers to love their neighbours and care for those in need. By supporting food banks, sending gifts to children who would otherwise go without this Christmas, and opposing all forms of bullying behaviour, we actively participate in the corporal works of mercy and reflect the dignity of every human person. We will continue our commitment to foster a sense of solidarity with those in need, recognizing the interconnectedness of all people and our shared responsibility to build a more just and compassionate society.
