Here at St Joseph’s Prep, the children in Prep 6 have started working on their Edmund Rice Awards, with the help and support of Shannon Oates. Shannon has come in to school to work with the children, and give her insight into who and what Edmund Rice stood for and how in today’s society it is still very much part of us all. I am pleased to see just how enthusiastic the children are about this and we are currently working on our fundraising idea for after Easter, a whole school non-uniform and Prep 6 Providing a coffee and cake hour for parents on Friday 19th May.
Miss Kent
Asafa- I am enjoying learning about Edmund Rice, he was a really good role model. Jesus taught us to help the poor and Edmund taught us this by his charitable work across the world. His work continues throughout all of the Edmund Rice schools and pupils. He taught us all to have compassion for those in need by helping boys in Ireland who could not afford to get an education, this helped many families and communities.
O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
