St Joseph’s Prep

Since the start of the school year, here at St Joseph’s Prep School, we have been able to
award our ‘Following in Edmund Rice’s Footsteps’. The recipients of this award have been:
Tharika for being kind to her friends when they were upset.
Nancy for being kind and generous to our school family.

Tinaye for being very kind and helpful. Showing care for others and our world,
demonstrating the Essential – Compassion for those in Need.

The children are really embodying the ethos of Edmund Rice and I am looking forward to
more of our school family receiving this accolade.

Our Eco club and warriors have also been working hard this term on helping the school to
gain its Eco status. They have created a number of birdhouses, bug hotels and even
attempting to grow some strawberries in the summer. Currently they are arranging for a
collection of old or unwanted clothes throughout the school. The proceeds of this will go to
the Marine charity, which they have chosen to support.

We recently took part in “Odd Socks” day and the money collected is to be sent to an Anti-
Bullying charity.

Multicultural week saw the children learn about a wide range of Religions and even sample
so food.

We are waiting to visit the local New Vic Theatre, to see their production of Alice in
Wonderland. Children from our Gifted and Talented art group were assigned a task,
alongside Miss Kent, to come up with a display for the theatre, which will be displayed,
along with other schools at the theatre throughout the run of the production.
