St Mary’s Prep have done some very impressive work on advocating for the rights of those seeking asylum in the UK. They have created postcards of welcome as part of their awards, sending them to a local hotel where refugees are being temporarily housed and where there has been some local tension. A highlight for me, delivering the sessions has been when, during BSL week, the pupils taught me how to sign Education for Justice!
O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
