Every year at the Prep, we hold a ‘Grandparents’ Mass’ where we take the opportunity to thank our grandparents for all that they do for us. It was lovely to see such a full church thanks to our ever-growing number of pupils. We welcomed families old and new and saw three generations of our St Mary’s family amongst the congregation. Fr Caddell paid tribute to all the hard work that grandparents do, and it was truly warm, heartfelt occasion. The readers were wonderful, as were the choir. Our families joined us back at school for refreshments to carry on the celebration.
Family plays a huge part in life at the Prep in many ways and we are always extremely grateful to our school families when we fundraise for various charities throughout the year.
Every October, we take part in the White Chapel Centre, Liverpool “Socktober” appeal. The generosity from our families shows kindness and a willing to help others. Some of our School Council representatives, and our CAFOD Club leads, took a trip down to the warehouse where donations are received, and the Christmas gift bags are packed. We were lucky enough to see the team in action. As a school, we are working towards our CAFOD Live Simply Award, and these events are part of our school action plan towards gaining it. These are things that we have done for years and continue to do.
O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
