The Office Team have been visiting the Senior Schools this term delivering the Year 7 Autumn term workshops on joining an Edmund Rice school and becoming part of the global Edmund Rice family. Once schools have taught lessons to the incoming Year 7 students on Blessed Edmund’s life and the Eight Essentials, we visit the students to reinforce this learning and to share experiences of the global Edmund Rice family. Students watch the welcome video put together from many schools around the globe, they discuss Edmund’s life and legacy and think about what the challenge is of being one of Edmund’s people today – how we are called to change the world for the better. Students are left with a pledge card, a card which encourages them to engage with this challenge and be the change they want to see.
O God, we thank you for the life of Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
